Fashion and sewing for kids

After School club

The next session of the after school club will start on Thursday 20th June at 4.00pm where we will making a variety of bags including tote bags and pencil cases. We will  learn lots of different ways to decorate fabrics, including fabric pens, sewing beads and sequins, applique and much more.  We will then decorate the bags we have made.  There will be lots more practice using a sewing machine. Join us if you are age 10 or above.

Do you love vintage?  Here is an opportunity for you to make two beautiful vintage cushions for yourself. This is a great course for people who either want to learn hand sewing or for those of you who love to hand sew, you will also be using a sewing machine. This course is also suitable for absolute beginners.  You will learn how to manipulate the fabric to create the decorative stitches and you will learn how to complete both a round cushion and a square cushion (two different patterns and processes).

Would you like to learn how to sew in the comfort of your own home. I offer home sewing workshops where I will teach you and 3 friends how to sew. Host a sewing party at your house, invite a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 paying guests and your place is free.

• Are you looking to host a baby shower? You group of friends could make baby gifts or bunting
• Perhaps you and your friends are expectant mums or new mums and would like to learn how to use a sewing machine, or make a toy or an item of clothing for your baby.
• Do you want an excuse to get together with your friends, then maybe you would like to learn how to make cushions
• Is it a friends birthday, do something unusual, learn to sew whilst making small gifts
• What about a Christmas sewing party – get together with friends and make Christmas decorations or Christmas bunting

There are a selection of hand sewing and machine sewing projects.  I will supply the easy to use Janome sewing machines.

Please contact me to discuss if you have any particular sewing projects in mind, which could be from learning how to use a sewing machine to how to make children’s clothes. I am happy to organise an event to suit your requirements.

Fabric bows and flowers are very fashionable and used to decorate clothes, flowers, shoes, hair and lots of other things.   Children on this workshop will  use their creative ability – using hand sewing/machine sewing – and have lots of fun making a variety of fabric bows and flowers into brooches or shoe clips.

Are you looking for a completely different party for your children?  Then book  your child’s party at the Birmingham School of Sewing.  We will travel to your home and  provide an hour and a half to two hours of sewing entertainment for the partygoers who will each make a lovely sewing item to take away.  Children 10 and over can be taught to use sewing machines and  younger children will be taught to sewing and embroider using  hand sewing.   We also offer craft projects where no sewing is required.

Cost: £120 for up to 6 children with an additional £15 per child  maximum of 10 children in total.  We supply all sewing machines, all equipment and fabrics.

Parties suitable for children aged 6 and above.
